Why did I choose to name the grid “Equinox”? Why did I not choose “Xaria’s Grid” or “Aubrey’s Grid” or another one of a billion other choices? At first glance, I simply stole the name from the club, Club Equinox. The club was began before my time, I was not around for its naming or inception. I do not know why the name was chosen for the club, other than it is a cool name. However, after research and consideration, Equinox was a perfect fit for this grid. Here is why:
What is “equinox”?
Equinox descends from aequus, the Latin word for “equal,” and nox, the Latin word for “night”—a fitting history for a word that describes days of the year when the daytime and nighttime are equal in length.
Most of the yearly astronomical events, such as equinoxes and solstices, are associated with Stonehenge. There are many theories to what Stonehenge was constructed for or used for. Some theories suggest it was to track calendar events.

Equinox is when daytime and nighttime are equal in length. This could be defined as the midpoint or balance point. On a number line, this could be called the origin. In the matter of issues or politics, this could be called the neutral point or position.

As with all of the astronomical calendar events, the equinox will occur whether is it seen, observed or ignored.
Connection #3
When Stonehenge is in silhouette, it reminds me of people in silhouette. The attributes that humans discriminate against each about is missing when in silhouette. The silhouettes have shapes, like our avatars have shapes. However, who or what is behind those avatars is mostly irrelevant. For me, the blocks across the stones of Stonehenge are a reminder that we are connected, even in silhouette, or especially when in silhouette.
(Unfortunately, due to legal and public relations, or political correctness, and the maturity level of Equinox Grid, this freedom from discrimination does not extend to real world children or child avatars. That discrimination must remain.)
The Philosophy of the Grid
As a Grid, Equinox Grid strives for Balance and Neutrality in most all aspects. Equinox Grid is not dedicated to one focus. While Club Equinox was the pushing point for this grid to get started, there is far more to this grid than just the club. While at a particular time I may be focused on working on a certain project, like my Steampunk projects, the grid is not a Steampunk grid. By allowing open-registration, the Grid would have a huge influx of accounts. People who really have no vested interest IN Equinox Grid. The grid Balance would be lost. Resources wasted.
Summary
Equinox is a Constant. Whether the Grid or the Club is visited or ignored, it will always be here. Other Grids and Clubs come and go, we remain.
